Autism reminds me of a butterfly. Both are wrapped up like a butterfly in a cocoon except the butterfly comes out all grown and an autistic child can not come out on his own. It takes all of us to help unwrap him to see him grow.
I'm still working on it. I'm going to roll it around in my head a few day. Any ideas?
AUTISM AND CHRISTMAS JUST DO NOT MIX
Having an autistic child is a challenge. Having an autistic child during the holidays is a realization that your world is so much harder.
Watching children open presents with happy faces and shear excitement, while you watch yours not even taking notice. So you coax him to open just one, and you even help him open it only to turn around and see him twisting a tree light out of its socket.
A relative jokes, "Santa should have bought him a light bulb."
When the relatives leave, you're left confused with a wild child.
There's no time to cry, but you do anyway for you know something is desperately wrong with your child.
So you tell his doctor what a horrible Christmas you had.
And his doctor says, "Next year don't put up any decorations of any sorts."
And you say, "How can you not decorate for Christmas?"
He says, "You have too. You have to for your child's sake.
So for the rest of your child's life, holidays will hold a new meaning.

American Idol Guitarist, Tony Pulizzi, played the accustic and bass guitar on the song, "Santa's Littlest Elf Has Autism." I need to fly to LA next week and do the vocals. The song is not done. It still needs bells, drums, electric guitar, etc. I'm hoping to have it done by the end of next week to get it out on the radio by November.
I have posted the first minute on my music page. I invite you to listen. My son with AS helped me with the composing. Actually, he explained to me about the harnessing of the Northern Lights to get the sleigh moving. You see everybody thinks Santa's Elves made magic to get the sleigh to fly. Thay is not true. The Littlest Elf came up with the idea and thus the first Christmas.
